Democratic Party Founders: Current Administrators, Do You Know The Party Founders?

JAKARTA - The founder and senior member of the Democratic Party, Darmizal, questioned whether the party officials under the leadership of Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) knew the founder and declarator of the party bearing the Mercy Star symbol?

Because, he considered, the founders of declarators in the Democratic Party had no place and were even accused of having their own political agenda.

"What is the fate of the founders? If in other parties we see the founders in a place that is respected, in one position as an honorary citizen of the party. Well, I do not know where the founders (Democrat Party, red)", said Darmizal when contacted VOI, Monday, February 15.

"I don't know whether the current board understands the founders or not, do they know the founders", he added.

Also, he feels accused of having a certain political agenda for providing support for President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who is running for the second time in the 2019 Presidential Election. Even though his support is not wrong and has gone through various considerations, including due to the closeness of Jokowi and Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono who at that time he was the chairman of the Democratic Party.

He said the different attitudes of the founders and the senior cadres were not based on a feeling of dislike or revenge for the management. This difference was taken to improve the party's achievements.

Reflecting on the results of the last election, the Democrat Party's numbers have now dropped drastically. Thus, it raises concerns for the founders and senior cadres of the party.

"We see the trend, 2013 elections have decreased by only 11 percent, 2019 is only 7 percent, this is even smaller than the beginning of the party's establishment", he said.

"So the trigger now is not to let this party become a party by the previous analysis, to be a seasonal party. Right now it is getting smaller here, so the conscience moves to do something", Darmizal concluded.
