Pencak Silat 'Pandekar' Must Be Able To Maintain Peaceful Elections, Don't Join Convoys On The Streets

SURABAYA - Chairman of the DPD RI AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Setia Hati Terate Brotherhood (PSHT) said PSHT as a martial arts organization for pencak silat who has a large mass must play a role and support the creation of safe and peaceful elections.

This was conveyed by LaNyalla when meeting with the East Java PSHT management in Surabaya, at the PSHT Peace Election Declaration Coordination Meeting in East Java Province. PSHT will hold the grand event with the title "Declaration of Peaceful Elections" which will be held on November 26 at the Wilis Stadium, Madiun.

"The essence of election is as one of the channels of opinion or the voice of the people. Therefore, elections must be maintained by the entire community and PSHT must play an active role to participate in ensuring that elections run safely and peacefully. Without having to side with one of the candidates. Because PSHT is not going anywhere, but there are everywhere," said LaNyalla, Saturday, November 18.

The senator from East Java said that PSHT or also known as SH Terate is a student' of silat that is oriented towards noble teaching and prioritizes brotherhood between members.

PSHT is open in accepting members. Every citizen can become a member regardless of ethnicity, race, religion, skin color, gender, class, and age. This is in accordance with the motto of the Indonesian nation as stated in the national symbol Bhineka Tunggal Ika which means different but remains one.

For this reason, LaNyalla fully supports the plan for the declaration of "The Peace Pioneer" which will be initiated by PSHT throughout East Java.

"I hope there are no convoys that invite problems on the road. Lure the anger of traffic users. That is one of the messages of the East Java Police Chief. PSHT must be able to participate in guarding the peaceful and polite election, in a polite manner, so that the declaration must run safely and peacefully," said LaNyalla.

The senator from East Java also emphasized that PSHT should not be affiliated with any political party. This is also in line with the noble values embedded in PSHT.

"PSHT must be neutral, all election participants, both parties and presidential candidates, are one family. PSHT does not support anyone, but it must still be everywhere. This maintains dignity," said LaNyalla.

The chairman of the PSHT Central Board, Isssoe Bijantoro, added that the declaration of the "PSHT Peace Pioneer" will be attended by all PSHT members enthusiastically, but still by maintaining order.

"Let's maintain the dignity of PSHT by participating in maintaining peaceful elections. Keep it conducive, friendly and harmonious. Now we are very lucky to have coaches like Pak Nyalla. Care and idealistic," he said.

Meanwhile, PSHT General Chair Moerdjoko invites all elements of society to truly be able to present safe and comfortable elections for Indonesia's better future.

"We hope that there will be mutual concern so that peaceful elections can be carried out. Especially legislative candidates in the regions and centers who come from PSHT, also care about members of their members. So that everything is maintained and neat from leaving to returning, and during the election PSHT will take part in maintaining the safety of the election," he concluded.
