JAKARTA Brigadier Renita Rismayanti received an award from the United Nations (UN) at the annual UN Police Week at the New York United Nations Headquarters, Thursday, November 16.

In the world peace mission, Brigadier Renita Rismayanti served as Crime Database Officer with the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA).

He carries out the task of helping to conceptualize and develop a criminal database that allows UN Police to map and analyze crime and chaos points.

"He serves as a good example of how women's participation and leadership in peacekeeping increases the effectiveness of our peace protection and development work to further meet today and tomorrow's challenges," said Deputy Secretary General for Peace Operation Jean-Pierre Lacroix in a written statement, received by VOI, Friday 17 November.

UN Police Adviser Faisal Shahkar emphasized that the future of the UN police is now increasingly being helped by the work of Brigadier Renita. He proved that not only men, but female police officers can also create new technology-based ideas.

"He and his colleagues helped build trust, between local authorities and communities, which makes the United Nations Police work more effective and people safer," he said.

Being the youngest UN Women's Police this year, she proved that her abilities were extraordinary. She started her career with the Indonesian National Police as a public information officer in 2014 and worked in the fields of training, administration, and logistics.

Brigadier Renita Rismayanti said she felt lucky to be able to apply her skills in technology to improve security for people throughout the Central African Republic.

"I hope the visibility that comes from winning this award will strengthen between women and girls that all fields of expertise in the police are open to us," said the 27-year-old woman.

Brigadier Renita hopes that this award can motivate her to continue to develop herself better in order to advance the Police. In addition, he hopes that this can be a motivation for other Polri colleagues.

"This award will not be achieved without the support of the Indonesian Police Chief. I thank the National Police Chief for supporting me in this UN mission. I also thank the Head of the Hubinter Police for all my support and guidance," he said.

It is known that the Garuda Bhayangkara (Garbha) Contingent of the FPU 5 Minutesca Task Force on duty in Bangui, Central Africa, was dispatched by the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo on September 19, 2023. The contingent was attended by 140 Polri personnel with details of 116 Polki and 24 Polwan. The National Police has sent 3184 personnel from the National Police to the United Nations MPP.

The FPU 5 MINUSCA Task Force before being dispatched to the mission area must go through the 7 Months Pre-Assignment exercise at the National Police International Mission Center (Serpong) and have also been equipped with UN standard capabilities such as handling riots, handling Search & Rescue, investigation, intelligence, negotiations, counter-terrorists, VIP protection, snipers, electronic communication, mechanics to medical combat. The National Police Chief hopes that the implementation of the mission can run optimally and contribute to peace in the assignment area.

The Head of Public Relations Division of the United Nations Woman Police Officer of the Year Award was first awarded to female police at the 2011 Peace Keeping Mission. This year, one of the Indonesian heroines was awarded the international level award.

The Magelang-born policewoman, said the Head of Public Relations Division, has dedicated himself to world peace through the assignment of an Individual Police Officer in the Central African Republic or so-called MINUSCA. While serving there, the woman who is familiarly called Nita, held the position of Crime Database Officer.

"Armed with the experience of serving in the National Police International Relations Division (Divhubinter Polri), Nita showed her best performance until she was recognized by the United Nations Headquarter (UNHQ) and was awarded the award," explained the Head of Public Relations Division.
