Bogor City Becomes A National Urban Development Pilot Project

"BOGOR - The central government appointed Bogor City, West Java to pilot the national urban development project (NUDP) which is a cooperation project between the Indonesian government and the World Bank," said Bogor City Regional Secretary (Sekda) Syarifah Sofiah.

"The program aims to improve integrated urban development planning and programming as well as the preparation of priority capital investment programs," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, November 15.

He said the city government welcomes the appointment of Bogor City as a pilot for the NUDP project so that in the future it can be imitated so that every city has independence.

"Yes, because it must be admitted that many people who live in Bogor work in Jakarta. Of course, connectivity between Jakarta and Bogor City is very high, while on the one hand Bogor City has an area of around 11,000 hectares," he said.

According to him, the geographical location of Bogor City as an international or a buffer for Jakarta as an epicenter in terms of growth and the economic dynamic process in Indonesia has more or less influence.

The Syarifah Regional Secretary said that every day there are 50 thousand to 75 thousand people moving from Bogor City to Jakarta using the commuter electric rail train (KRL). This number does not include the public and residents who use private vehicles or other land transportation.

The pilot of the Bogor City NUDP project began with a workshop for the scope of NUDP capital investment planning (CIP) activities by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) through the Directorate General of Regional Development of the Directorate of Synchronization of Regional Government Affairs II attended by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Head of Sub-Directorate for Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Ali Irmanda explained that NUDP is a cooperation project of the Indonesian government and the World Bank which aims to improve integrated urban development planning and programming as well as the preparation of priority capital investment programs.

The achievement of NUDP's goals is measured with three main indicators, namely the consisting of a national strategy for urban infrastructure development, the structure of integrated urban development plans and programs and the integration between investment planning and budgeting frameworks.
