JAKARTA - Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said that currently three Indonesian citizens (WNI) are still in Gaza, amidst the worsening conflict situation between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas group.

The three Indonesian citizens who are volunteers at the Indonesian Hospital, namely Fikri Rofiul Haq, Reza Aldilla Kurniawan, and Farid Zanzabil Al Ayubi, decided to continue their humanitarian work, even though seven other Indonesian citizens have been successfully evacuated from Gaza.

"Until now, the three of them have decided to remain in Gaza," said Retno in a video statement she sent from the presidential plane, while accompanying President Joko Widodo on a working visit to Washington DC, USA, Sunday, as quoted by Antara.

She ensured that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continued to communicate with the three Indonesian citizens, as well as with MER-C representatives in Jakarta to ensure their condition was good.

Previously on November 3, Foreign Minister Retno announced the success of four Indonesian citizens from Gaza.

Abdillah Onim's family, his three children who are also Indonesian citizens, and his wife who is a Palestinian citizen left Gaza through the Rafah gate which borders Egypt.

Meanwhile, three other Indonesian citizens, namely Muhammad Husein, his two children, and his wife who are Palestinians, have also been evacuated from Gaza via the Rafah border.

After successfully leaving Gaza on Sunday local time, Husein and his family were taken to Cairo to be returned to Indonesia.
