JAKARTA - Personnel of the Special Criminal Directorate of North Kalimantan Police detained 3 illegal gold miners in Sekatak Buji Village, Bulungan, namely Rusli, Sarifudin and Hasna.

"They were entrusted to the Bulungan Police Detention Center," said Head of Public Relations of the North Kalimantan Police, Grand Commissioner Budi Rachmat, in a written statement reported by Antara, Sunday, February 14.

They were detained by the police after a raid was held by the North Kalimantan Regional Police in July 2020. At that time they were in three illegal gold mining locations with three different owners.

The illegal mine site has been fitted with police lines with evidence in the form of six excavators, one can of cyanide, five sacks of gold-containing earth material, two water machines, one light machine, and one sack of lime.

"Special Crime Investigation Directorate of North Kalimantan Regional Police has previously received reports from the public regarding unauthorized or illegal gold mines carried out by several groups of people in the area of Sekatak Buji Village," said Rachmat.
