Palestinian Ambassador Appreciates Indonesia's Contribution in Sending Aid to Gaza

JAKARTA - Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Zuhair Al-Shun feels proud of the Indonesian people. His pride was due to his contribution to humanitarian aid for Palestinians in Gaza.

"We are really proud of your people, your government. Whatever assistance, whatever support is more than enough for Palestine," said Zuhair Al-Shun after witnessing the delivery of the Indonesian government's humanitarian aid to Gaza at Halim Perdanakusuma, Jakarta, Saturday.

On that occasion, Zuhair expressed his gratitude to the Indonesian government and people for the assistance provided to Palestinians who are now victims of the Hamas-Israel war.

Ambassador Zuhair also believes that the Indonesian people will always be together with Palestine and will never leave Palestine alone.

According to him, Indonesia understands the struggle of the Palestinian people and is fighting together.

"Indonesia, as stated by His Excellency (President Joko Widodo), will always be with Palestine and will not leave Palestine alone," he said.

According to Zuhair, Indonesia and Palestine are both fighting for freedom. "They understand it and they are fighting with us in diplomacy. What is certain is that with the efforts of Indonesia, the largest Islamic country, we will be successful and independent," he said.

Previously, in the agenda for releasing the first batch of aid at the Halim Perdanakusuma Base Operations Base in Jakarta, President Jokowi said that the aid provided to the Palestinians was a form of Indonesian solidarity and a form of the Indonesian nation's concern for humanity.

"Because the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza is unacceptable and must be stopped as soon as possible. I want to emphasize again that Indonesia will continue to be with the struggle of the Palestinian people," he said.

President Jokowi released the first stage of aid in the form of food, medicine, medical equipment, drinking water purifiers without electricity, and even blankets for the needs of Palestinians who were victims of the war in Gaza.

The total first batch of aid weighed 51.5 tonnes which was transported using three aircraft to Egypt. Meanwhile, the second wave of aid is scheduled to be sent in the next 3 to 4 weeks.

Also attending the event were Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Pahala Mansury, and the Palestinian Ambassador for the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Zuhair Al-Shun.
