JAKARTA - Member of Commission V DPR RI from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) faction Jimmy Demianus Ijie admitted that he gave Rp2.1 billion to win an appeal for a corruption case in 2014.

"The total given through Julius, Imran, and Sudiwardono was Rp2 billion, of which Rp100 million was transferred to the defendant," said Jimmy during the witness examination hearing at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor), reported by Antara, Thursday, February 11.

The hearing was conducted by teleconference, only the panel of judges, public prosecutors and legal advisers were present at the court.

Jimmy served as a witness to former North Jakarta District Court Substitute Registrar Rohadi who was indicted together with the Jayapura High Court (PT) Chairman in 2015 Sudiwardono, and PT Jayapura ad hoc judge Julius C Manupapami accepting bribes worth a total of Rp1.21 billion from members of the Papua DPRD Barat 2009-2014 Jimmy Demianus Ijie and Robert Melianus Nauw in a corruption case.

Jimmy and Robert were found guilty in a corruption case handled by the Papua High Prosecutor's Office in 2014 and were sentenced to imprisonment each of 1 year and 3 months. At the appeal level, the two even became 4 years and 2 years, so they filed an appeal to the Supreme Court (MA). They then asked for help from Julius and Sudiwardono to help them get free at the cassation level.

"At that time, Mr. Sudiwardono first told me to help his friend if he wanted to borrow Rp. 100 million sent through an account, there was the name Rohadi," said Jimmy.

According to Jimmy, the Rp100 million was sent via bank transfer by a friend named Indra.

"Then, he sent Rp100 million to the account number Pak Sudiwardono gave, after that I asked whose name it was. He said this was in Rohadi's name. I asked Pak Sudi who was Rohadi. Said Mr Sudi, he was a friend. my business, "said Jimmy.

In addition to transferring Rp100 million to Rohadi's account, Jimmy also submitted it in several stages, namely in August 2015 amounting to Rp150 million to Imran, in August 2015 giving Rp300 million to Julius, on August 16 2015 amounting to Rp500 million to Imran, on August 25 2015 amounting to Rp. 800 million to Imran, and on September 10, 2015 amounting to Rp. 250 million to Imran, bringing the total to Rp. 2 billion.

"I gave the money, because I really believed in Pak Julius as an ad hoc judge in the high court, but I had no idea who Rohadi was," said Jimmy.

Imran passed away in 2016, while Julius also passed away in 2018, and Sudiwardono is serving a 6-year sentence for accepting bribes in 2018.

Meanwhile, Robert spent Rp1.2 billion for the processing of the cassation. "The money I submitted through Julius was Rp1.2 billion," said Robert, who also delivered a statement via teleconference.

The money was handed over in stages, namely in December 2014 amounting to Rp.400 million, March 2015 amounting to Rp.400 million, and August 2015 amounting to Rp.400 million.

"The Rp1.2 billion has not been returned by Julius to this day," said Robert.

Apart from the Rp1.2 billion, Robert admitted that he also directly transferred Rp.280 million to Rohadi's account.

"Julius ordered a gradual transfer, in the end the total was Rp280 million and this money has not been returned," said Robert.

Even though the second cassation confirmed the Jayapura High Court's decision, so that he was still found guilty.
