Djarot Says Megawati's Decision To Choose Ganjar Because She Doesn't Think About Her Family

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDI-P DPP for Ideology and Cadreization Djarot Saiful Hidayat said that Megawati Soekarnoputri chose Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate (candidate) because she didn't think about her family alone. "Why should Ganjar? Mrs. Mega has gone through one period, one phase she doesn't care about herself and her family. She has finished with herself. What is important is how the future of our nation is," said Djarot at Ganjar Center, Jakarta, Antara, Monday, October 30. Before the decision to become a PDI-P presidential candidate, he said, Puan Maharani's name also emerged as a strong candidate for the party's presidential candidate. In fact, Megawati did a long analysis before deciding on Ganjar Pranowo's name. "Ganjar Pranowo pioneered from very low, he also first participated in building and filling party schools, cadreization, then assigned to the DPR, all of these assignments were evaluated continuously," he said. According to him, Ganjar was chosen not instantly, but had passed a fairly long and long regeneration. The General Elections Commission (KPU) has received registrations for three presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2024 presidential election, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md., and Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The Anies-Muhaimin pair was promoted by the NasDem Party, the National Awakening Party (PKB), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), and the Ummah Party. The Ganjar-Mahfud pair was promoted by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), the United Development Party (PPP), the Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo), and the People's Conscience Party (Hanura). Meanwhile, the Prabowo-Gibran pair was promoted by the Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), the Golkar Party (Golkar), the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Democratic Party, the Crescent Star Party (PBB), the Indonesian People's Wave Party (Gelora), the Indonesian Republic of Indonesia Guard Party (Garuda), and the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), as well as the People's Fair and Prosperous Party (Prima) who did not qualify to participate in the 2024 General Election. The General Elections Commission (KPU) has set an election campaign period from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024, then the voting is scheduled to be held on February 14, 2024.
