For Jakarta And Bekasi Residents, There Are Flats That Can Be Lived Temporarily In Cipayung And Bulak Kapal

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) will build flats (flats) in Jakarta and Bekasi as temporary residences for poor people or people with the Social Welfare Service Government (PPKS) such as scavengers, vagabonds, and beggars.

PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono stated that the construction of vertical housing is also a place for empowerment and development of productive economic enterprises in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs.

In addition to the development of flats, the cooperation between the Ministry of PUPR and the Ministry of Social Affairs is also related to community empowerment. The existence of the flat will later be used as a temporary shelter as a standard of living for PPKS served by the Social Rehabilitation Center, the Ministry of Social Affairs by first participating in social rehabilitation, vocational training, and entrepreneurship development.

"It is hoped that later the flat can become a place to empower people who do not have income from other places and can reduce slums in nearby locations," said Minister Basuki, quoted from Antara, Thursday, February 11.

The construction of the PPKS Flats began in mid-February 2021 which was marked by the laying of the first stone

The flats were built in two places, namely the Bambu Apus Orphanage Complex, Cipayung, East Jakarta covering an area of 1,932 square meters and the Balai Karya Pangudi Complex in Bulak Kapal, East Bekasi covering an area of 3,880 square meters. Each flat is built on 5 floors consisting of 108 units of type 24 to accommodate 428 people.

Both flats are equipped with infrastructure, facilities and utilities (PSU) such as parking lots, clean water, sanitation and electricity networks. In addition, each room is also equipped with furniture, such as 212 units of bunk beds and 4 units of single beds, 212 units of 2-door wardrobes, 4 units of 1-door wardrobes, 428 units of desks, and 428 chairs in each room.

For space utilization, the ground floor is used as a management room, multipurpose room, 2 units for disabled people with a capacity of 4 people, and 18 standard units with a capacity of 72 people.

Then for Floor II to Floor V it is used for residential space, each floor totaling 22 standard units with a capacity of 88 people. The construction cost of the two flat and their complementary facilities is estimated at Rp. 86.6 billion.

During the flat construction process, Minister Basuki advised all construction workers to implement an Occupational Safety and Health Management System (SMK3) so that potential work accidents can be avoided and strictly enforce health protocols to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 Virus.

"It is hoped that construction work can be completed according to the target in November 2021," he said.

The construction of flat as a habitable place to live for PPKS is part of the One Million Houses Program of the Ministry of PUPR through the Directorate General of Housing. Since its launching on April 29, 2015, the achievement of the One Million Houses Program has gradually increased, namely in 2015 - 2019, the Ministry of PUPR has built 4,800,170 housing units and 965,217 housing units in 2020.

Furthermore, in 2021 there will be 404,682 housing units and a total of 9,799 flats specifically.
