JAKARTA - Muhamad Munawir, the perpetrator of the Medelin Sumual murder in West Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan, is subject to customary sanctions. The total fine to be paid is IDR 1,898,000,000.

Munawir, the perpetrator of the Medelin murder, was given a maximum deadline of 6 months in order to realize the dendan value as of the date of this decision.

"If up to the predetermined deadline, which is August 4, 2021, the customary fine of IDR 1,898,000,000 cannot be fulfilled/paid, then immediately coordinate with the large adat institution of West Kutai Regency to discuss matters relating to the payment of fines", continued the decision which was also signed by the Big Customary Head of West Kutai Regency, Manar Dimansyah.

The police confirmed that the case of the murder of a woman named Medelin in West Kutai, East Kalimantan, has been prosecuted. The public is asked not to be provoked by the issue of SARA circulating on social media.

The murder of 20-year-old Medelin took place on Monday, February 1 at Sumber Sari, Barong Tongkok. The perpetrator named Muhamad Munawir has been arrested and is currently undergoing legal proceedings.

The murder was discovered when the victim was found lying with a sharp weapon wound on the neck. According to the police, the perpetrator initially asked the victim to have sex by giving IDR 2 million.
