Reasons Bareskrim Rejects Postponement Of Ustaz Maheer's Detention

JAKARTA - The National Police Headquarters said investigators rejected the request to suspend the detention of Soni Eranata alias Ustaz Maheer At-Thuwailibi. Because, there were considerations so that the investigator decided to reject it.

"Certainly not all of the postponements can be granted by investigators," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, to reporters, Wednesday, February 10.

Rusdi said, all decisions regarding that matter were up to the investigators. In this way all considerations are known only to the investigator.

"The investigator also has other considerations. So that the suspension is not granted by the investigator," said Rusdi.

Previously it was reported, the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit did not grant the request for a suspension of detention against Ustaz Maaher At-Thuwailibi or Soni Eranata. Ustaz Maaher was named a suspect in the case of alleged hate speech or insulting Habib Lutfi bin Ali bin Yahya.

"Until now, Bareskrim Polri has not suspended suspected suspects," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, to reporters, Tuesday, December 29.

The suspension of detention of Ustaz Maaher At-Thuwailibi or Soni Eranata was proposed by his wife, Iqlima Ayu on Monday, December 28. Iqlima also apologized to all those who were injured.

"I, as the wife of Ustaz Maaher At-Thuwailibi, begged to open a door of apology as large as Habib Lutfi as well as the NU extended family to forgive my husband. His human name is a mistake. So I beg my husband to be released immediately," he said.
