Residents' Rawa Cat Fires Are Still Affected By Thick Smoke Fog, Refugee Locations Are Expanded

TANGERANG - The Tangerang City Government, Banten, added two refugee camps to accommodate residents affected by the Rawa Cat TPA fire because of the widespread smoke and disturbing health. Although the residents still felt the impact of the fire in the form of a puff of smoke that was increasingly widespread and disturbing.

Tangerang Mayor Arief R Wismansyah in Tangerang appealed to residents who live at a radius of 800 meters from the fire site to carry out independent evacuations. Considering the condition of the smoke that is getting thicker and feared to have a negative impact on health.

Arief said his party was also expanding the evacuation points, if the first time the evacuation was in Neglasari District. Currently, there are two most recent, namely the Social Service Office and Kedaung Wetan Village

"Satpol PP also conducts sweeping door to door to people's homes, to temporarily evacuate to safer places," he said.

Mayor Arief added that the joint team encountered problems in the process of extinguishing the fire at the Rawa Cat TPA due to the strong wind conditions which also exacerbated the spread of smoke.

"Our difficulty is understanding the wind conditions that carry smoke, and the wind drives fire smoke closer to the residents' residence," he said.

The Tangerang City Government is also still waiting for assistance from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) to carry out water bombers at the Rawa Cat TPA location.

"Now the fire engine cannot enter the Rawa Cat TPA area, because the smoke is too thick and the visibility is only about one meter," he said.
