JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) conveyed the four main elements needed to build connectivity in one country based on experience in Indonesia.

"First, it must provide economic benefits; second, it must be carried out evenly and inclusively; third, must pay attention to the sustainability aspect and fourth; it must be supported by human resource development and technology transfer," said President Jokowi while attending the High Level Forum in the third series of Belt and Road Forum events at the China National Convention Center, Beijing, on Wednesday, October 18, confiscated by Antara.

The High Level Forum has the theme "Connectivity in an Open Global Academy".

President Jokowi considered that the four things became the basis for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) cooperation for connectivity development.

"So that BRI can be a solution for the development of connectivity and contribute to peace in the region to create prosperity together," he said.

On this occasion, the Head of State also explained a number of connectivity developments that have been carried out by Indonesia for the last nine years.

"Indonesia believes that connectivity is a way of prosperity, for that for the last 9 years until the end of 2023, Indonesia has built more than 2,000 kilometers of toll roads, and also built non-toll roads, new ports, and new airports," said Jokowi.

In addition to building large infrastructure, President Jokowi also said that Indonesia has built connectivity through the development of small infrastructure spread across villages in the country.

"There are more than 320 thousand kilometers of village roads, 1.7 million meters of bridges, and others. And not only physical connectivity, Indonesia also continues to expand digital connectivity to reach the outermost or border areas," said the President.

The reason is because Indonesia has 17 thousand islands and health and education facilities.

"In the end, all of this can boost Indonesia's economic competitiveness and investment, as well as become a solid and sustainable growth fundamental," he said.

Also accompanying the President were Minister of State-Owned Enterprises as Ad Interim Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Erick Thohir, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and Indonesian Ambassador to RRT Djauhari Oratmangun.
