Rizieq Shihab's Grieve For Ustaz Maaher

JAKARTA - From behind the detention, Rizieq Shihab left a message of condolences for Ustaz Maaher At Thuwailibi alias Soni Ernata who died at the Police Criminal Investigation Prison.

"He (Rizieq Shihab) conveyed (condolences). I'll go to the family to represent him (condolences),” said former FPI attorney Aziz Yanuar, confirmed by VOI, Tuesday, February 9 evening.

"Innalillahi wa inna ilaihi rojiuun, I am deeply sorry. Hopefully, the family will be patient, God willing, the late (Ustaz Maaher) is a good person. Hopefully, he will be included in the category of syuhada," he said.

The National Police Headquarters stated that they could not convey the illness that was suffered by Ustaz Maaher At-Thuwailibi alias Soni Ernata. Ustaz Maaher died at the Police Criminal Investigation Detention Center.

"I cannot convey what the disease was because it was sensitive, this could be related to the good name of the deceased," said the Head of Public Relations of the Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono to reporters, Tuesday, February 9.

Most importantly, said Argo, the police medical officer has provided care to Ustaz Maaher while complaining about his illness.

"From the doctor's statement and the treatment, Soni Ernata's brother has a sensitive illness which can make the family's good name tarnished if we mention it," he said.

The confusion of diseases suffered by Ustaz Maaher At Thuwailibi alias Soni Ernata until he died is still emerging. The National Police has confirmed that the cause of death was due to illness, but the illness of Ustadz Maaher was not explained because he maintained his good name.

The National Police appealed to the public to not easily believe the news that was circulating. This is because these reports cannot be accounted for.

"Regarding the death of the person concerned, it has been explained by the police that he died due to illness," said Head of Public Information Division, Public Relations Division Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, Tuesday, February 9.

"The public should not easily believe irresponsible news, if there is any doubt ask the competent party," he continued.

In fact, Rusdi also reminded the public not to participate in spreading baseless news. Because, later on, this could lead to the spread of false information or hoaxes that lead to crimes.

"And don't spread fake news, because it is a criminal act," he said.
