BALIKPAPAN - The police arrested and detained Ratih Vimalasari, the owner of the Facebook account of Noni Vhian. Police named the woman as a suspect in hate speech via Facebook's social media.

"The perpetrator is under sentence of six years in prison and a fine of Rp1 billion," said Head of Balikpapan Police, Kombes Turmudi, in Balikpapan, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, February 9.

According to him, the account named Noni Vhian was reported by Hadi Manihuruk's lawyer, who represented his client, Andi Sulfan.

Meanwhile Manihuruk admitted to reporting this case on November 18, 2020. Ratih was then secured and named a suspect

Vimalasari on the Noni Vhian Facebook account appeared live for 28 minutes on 10 November 2020. At that time he mentioned Sulfan's name and delivered a number of utterances which were later deemed insulting to Sulfan.

"The person concerned really conveyed inappropriate words and insulted the dignity of our client," he said.

Ratih's words are deemed to comply with article 45 of the Information and Electronic Transactions Law and article 27 paragraph 3.

According to lawyer Noni Vhian's insult via Facebook also offended Sulfan's friends.

"Different is certainly permissible, insulting is not allowed," said Manihuruk.
