Police Involvement Of 5 Suspected Terrorists Arrested In Aceh

JAKARTA - Anti-terror Densus investigators continue to investigate the involvement of five terrorist suspects who were arrested in a number of places in Aceh Province. Police are still looking into whether anyone was involved.

"Densus investigators are still investigating the involvement of each suspect. As well as investigating whether other parties were involved," said Head of Public Relations of the Aceh Police, Sr. Comr. Winardy, in Banda Aceh, as reported by Antara, Tuesday, February 9.

He said the five suspects were still detained at the Aceh Regional Police Headquarters in Banda Aceh, until there was an order to move them to Jakarta.

According to him, from the initial examination the terrorist suspects were involved with the ISIS network. They also planned to detonate the targets of the army, police, and central government assets in Aceh.

"There may be other parties involved in this network. It all depends on the results of the investigation by the Densus team. We are waiting for the progress of the investigation by the Densus team," he said.

Previously, the Indonesian Police's Densus 88 Anti-terror team arrested five suspected terrorists at several locations in Banda Aceh, Aceh Besar District, and Langsa. "Three terrorist suspects were arrested in Aceh Besar District, and in the Simpang Tujuh market area, Ulee Kareng, Banda Aceh. As well as two more in Langsa," he said.

The location of the arrests on Jalan Blangbintang-Krueng Raya, Aceh Besar, at 7:45 p.m., Wednesday, January 20. During the arrest, the Densus 88 team arrested two suspects, namely the initials SA alias S, and RA.

Then, the Indonesian Police's Densus 88 Anti-terror team arrested the suspect UM alias AA alias TA in the Simpang Tujuh Market area, Ulee Kareng, Banda Aceh, at 10.00 WIB, Thursday, January 21.

Furthermore, the special team arrested two other suspects in Langsa at 20.00 WIB, Thursday, January 21. The two suspects have the initials SB alias AF, civil servants, and MY.

Winardy said that from the arrest of the five suspected terrorists, the Densus 88 Anti-terror team confiscated evidence of bomb-making materials. Among one kilogram of powdered mineral material, powdered charcoal, 2,000 bullets, pieces of iron pipe. As well as documents containing notes, threatening messages addressed to the government and TNI / Polri, as well as five passport books.

Then, the book contains writings about ISIS, discs, data storage devices, cell phones, and a number of sports equipment such as boxing, barbells, and heavy lifting equipment.

"The five suspected terrorists are suspected of being involved in the Medan Police bomb network, the bombing in Riau, and plans in Aceh. They are also suspected of going to Afghanistan to join ISIS," he said.
