COVID-19 Update As Of 9 February: 8.700 New Cases, 1.174.779 Accumulated Cases

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) releases the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 today. A total of 67.888 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 8.700 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 1.174.779 people and as many as 169.351 active cases", quoted from the Ministry of Health, Tuesday, February 9.

Today, there are 10.424 cases recovered, so that a total of 973.452 people recovered. Then, 213 confirmed positive cases died, and a total of 31.976 people.

The province with the newest cases is in DKI Jakarta with 3.437 cases and a total of 300.406 cases. Followed by Central Java which has 948 new cases with a total of 137.326 cases. West Java has 775 new cases and a total of 169.982 cases. Then, East Kalimantan has 550 new cases and a total of 46.456 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an increase of 2.786 recovered cases. Followed by West Java with an additional 2.216 recovered cases, Central Java with an additional 665 recovered cases, and East Java with an additional 700 recovered cases.

No province reported having no new cases as of today. The province that reported the fewest new cases was Maluku with 5 cases.

In addition, the number of specimens examined reached 9.791.928. In detail, a total of 9.647.325 specimens were examined using real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 144.603 using molecular rapid tests (TCM).

"The cumulative positive result per number of people examined or a positivity rate of 18 percent", he wrote.

For the number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, it was recorded at 77.086 people. Currently, 510 districts/cities from 34 provinces have cases of COVID-19.

Furthermore, currently, there are 854.407 people who have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 221.453 vaccines in the second dose. Meanwhile, the total vaccination targets reached 181.554.465 people.
