Bribery Case 'Red Notice' Joko Tjandra, Brigadier General Prasetijo Charged 2.5 Years In Jail

JAKARTA - The Public Prosecutor (JPU) charged Brigadier General Prasetijo Utomo with imprisonment for 2 years and 6 months. He was also charged with paying a fine of IDR 100 million for a subsidiary of 6 months.

The prosecutor considered that Prasetijo Utomo was proven guilty and convinced of accepting bribes in the removal of red notice for Joko Tjandra. The prosecutor asked the judge to find Prasetijo guilty.

"Sentenced the defendant to imprisonment for 2 years and 6 months with orders that the defendant is held in a detention center", said the team of prosecutors while reading out Pinangki's demands at the Corruption Court in Central Jakarta, Monday, February 8.

In his demand, the prosecutor also asked the panel of judges to reject Prasetijo Utomo's request regarding the justice collaborator. This is because the prosecutor considered that Prasetijo was proven to have violated Article 5 paragraph 2 jo 5 paragraph 1 letter A of the Corruption Eradication Law jo Article 55 paragraph 1 to 1 of the Criminal Code (KUHP).

In his demand, the prosecutor considered the aggravating and mitigating matters. What is aggravating for Prasetijo is considered not to support the government in eradicating corruption, collusion, and nepotism. While mitigating matters, the defendant acknowledged and regretted his actions.

"Things that are mitigating, the defendant is polite in the trial, the defendant admits guilt and regrets his actions and apologizes to the National Police institution, the family and the people of Indonesia", he said.

In this case, Brigadier General Prasetijo Utomo received 100,000 US dollars. This money was a bribe in order to remove Djoko Tjandra's name from the red notice list.
