JAKARTA - The Timika District Attorney's Office is currently investigating allegations of misappropriation of state finances in the house rehabilitation project of the Mimika DPRD Chairperson for the 2020 Fiscal Year worth IDR3,047 billion.

Head of the Special Crimes Section of the Timika District Prosecutor's Office, Donny Stiven Umbora, said his staff had asked for information about 7 people involved in the activity.

They are the provider (contractor) and staff of the Mimika DPRD Secretariat. "We will schedule an examination of the supervisory consultant and several other parties," said Donny in Timika, quoted by Antara, Sunday, February 7.

The Timika Prosecutor's Office has not been able to conclude whether there has been a doubling of the budget in the house rehabilitation project for the Mimika DPRD Speaker.

"We are investigating the matter. We are still collecting documents and various other evidence. If this is the case, it will certainly be seen later," said Donny.

Several parties who have been questioned by investigators from the Timika Prosecutor's Office, including the General Head of DPRD Secretariat Mimika Fanyati, DPRD Secretary Mimika Ananias Faot and former DPRD Secretary Mimika Paulus Dumais and several Mimika DPRD Secretariat staff.

In order to make clear whether there is a criminal act in this activity, according to Donny, his staff will ask for information from all parties involved, starting from the auction stage, the implementation of the work to the accountability of these activities.

Responding to the investigation of the case, DPRD member Mimika Saleh Alhamid asked the Timika Prosecutor's Office to seriously follow up on the investigation of the house rehab case for the Mimika DPRD Chairperson for the 2020 Fiscal Year, which he said had doubled the budget.

The double budget for the same activity, he said, occurred in August 2020 amounting to IDR 347 million and then re-budgeted in September 2020 worth IDR 3, 047 billion.

"There were two budgeting times in the adjacent month and in the same year, this is very unlikely," said Saleh. According to the information gathered, PT Fikri Bangun Persada handled the house rehabilitation work for the Mimika DPRD Chairperson for the 2020 Fiscal Year.

In addition to the housing rehabilitation issue for the Mimika DPRD Chairperson, law enforcement officials from the Papua High Prosecutor's Office are currently investigating the renovation of the roof of the main building in the shape of the Mimika DPRD Office for Fiscal Years 2019 and 2020 with a budget of more than IDR 6 billion.
