JAKARTA - Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno together with the Indonesian Toilet Task Force (STI) immediately repaired toilets in tourist destinations in the country.

As reported from Antara, Sunday 7 February, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy responded positively to the direction of the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, who wanted toilets in tourist areas to be fixed.

Therefore, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy plans to form a national toilet task force as a part of increasing the attractiveness of national tourism.

One community organization called the Indonesian Toilet Task Force (STI) supports the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy's plan to improve the condition of toilets in tourist visiting areas.

"We are ready to collaborate to help the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno to improve the conditions of toilets in tourist spots", said the Chairman of the Indonesian Toilet Task Force, Anthoney.

According to Anthoney, The Indonesian Toilet Task Force was founded by people who care about cleanliness in tourism spots. Its members consist of community leaders, youth leaders, religious leaders, traditional leaders, students, media practitioners, and academics.

The purpose of establishing The Indonesian Toilet Task Force, continued Anthoney, is to provide input to the government and relevant stakeholders regarding areas that need to be prioritized to improve toilet conditions.

"We have studied in the field and found that there are five tourist spots in Indonesia that can become pilot projects promoting the Love Clean and Healthy Toilets Movement", said Anthoney.

Meanwhile, Secretary-General of The Indonesian Toilet Task Force, Ismail Nursaleh said the background for the formation of the task force was due to the need for public participation to support the government in carrying out a massive campaign for the importance of creating a movement for people to love clean and healthy toilets.

Ismail said, in many tourism spots, there are still many toilets that do not have special facilities for people with disabilities who use wheelchairs. So, his party will also encourage the government to pay attention to providing special toilet facilities for people with disabilities.

"The community movement cares about clean and healthy toilets to respond positively to the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno's suggestion to involve the citizens in helping the government", he said.
