7 People Become Suspects In TNI Persecution Case, Threatened With 7 Years In Prison

JAKARTA - The Gorontalo Regional Police's General Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) has named seven suspects in the alleged torture of members of the TNI that occurred at an entertainment venue in Gorotalo City, Gorontalo Province.

Head of Gorontalo Regional Police Public Relations Kombes Wahyu Tri Cahyono said, Ditreskrimum continues to investigate and investigate the case and seven people have become suspects, of which six have been detained.

Wahyu explained that of the nine people, eight people had been arrested at the Gorontalo Regional Police and one person was still in search, then of the eight people, seven had been named as suspects, namely RD, BP, SL, SK, HI, MP and MD while one person others are still witnesses.

He revealed that in that case the suspects were charged under Article 170 paragraph (2) -1 subs Article 351 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1e of the Criminal Code with a maximum imprisonment of 7 years.

Furthermore, Wahyu advised all parties to exercise restraint, entrust the Gorontalo Regional Police to carry out an investigation into the case.

"Of course we all regret the incidents of persecution of TNI members so that it has an impact on the name of Gorontalo Province which has been known as a safe area, therefore it is hoped that all parties can restrain themselves," he said.

He added that Kapolda and Danrem 133 / NWB synergize and coordinate with each other to take steps to keep security and social security in the Gorontalo Province safe and conducive.
