Police Members Who Stole 13 Motorcycle Machines Pastel In Sorong Immediately Fired

Sorong Police Chief AKBP Yohanes Agustiandaru confirmed that members of the police with the initials AI who committed serious disciplinary violations were immediately sentenced to dishonorable dismissal (PTDH) or dismissal from the National Police institution. AI was arrested in the case of the theft of 13 outboard motor engines.

"AI is waiting for PTDH because the decision to sanction the dismissal is still in process," Yohanes said, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, September 14.

In March 2023, AI committed disciplinary violations so that it underwent a code of ethics trial at the Sorong Police Headquarters and was found guilty. Then the member of the police with the rank of Brigadier filed an appeal to the West Papua Police, but was rejected so that he is currently waiting for the PTDH process.

"The AI has been terminated by PTDH, just waiting for the process of issuing the PTDH decision," added the Police Chief.

Yohanes said AI left official duties for a long period of time so that it received strict sanctions. Later, AI was also involved in a theft case and was arrested by the police.

"Regarding the legal process, the perpetrators of AI in the case of motorcycle theft are handled by the Sorong Police because of the incident in the jurisdiction of the Sorong Police," he said.

"Our country is a state of law, so whoever violates it is processed according to the applicable law," explained the Police Chief.

Previously, the Opsnal Team of the West Sorong Police, Southwest Papua, arrested two perpetrators of the theft of 13 units of attached motorbikes on September 8, 2023 at BTN Housing, Sorong City. One of the perpetrators has the initials AI (20), a member of the Sorong Police.

The theft case occurred on September 6, 2023, involving six perpetrators in a warehouse owned by PT Desire Abadi in Sorong City. A total of 13 units of Yamahadibawa brand attached motorbikes fled.

When arrested, the police secured evidence of eight units of an outboard engine of 15 PK. Meanwhile, five other stolen machines are suspected to have been sold by the perpetrators.
