The inaugural delivery of the presidential palace buildings in the capital city of Nusantara (IKN) began to be carried out, departing from the Nyoman Nuarta workshop in Bandung to Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan on Wednesday, August 30 evening.
A total of 80 blades or eight modules, in the first phase, will be transported by truck through the port of Tanjung Perk Surabaya to Kalimantan.
The journey of the palace blades made of yellow metal with an average height of 4.50 meters, will then use a ship bound for Sepaku, Penajam Paser Utara, East Kalimantan. Especially for the delivery of the first phase, the blades that have been started since March 2023 are intended for segment 7 and segment 8 of the Presidential Palace building.
It should be noted that the palace building is divided into 16 segments with the highest peak on the wings of the garuda on the outside.
As a marker of the departure of the palace blades to IKN, a traditional Sundanese "Ngarah" ceremony was held in Amphitheater, NuArt Sculpture Park Bandung. This ceremony was attended by the Ciamis Pointdua Studio Arts Association, West Java, led by the poet Godi Suwara.
The ceremony, entitled "Rajah Pangjurung Ringkang", is intended as a prayer for travel so that parts of IKN arrive at their destination safely. In addition, it is hoped that the entire process of working on the Presidential Palace at IKN will run smoothly, according to the scheduled time.
Artist Nyoman Nuarta said the creation of the presidential palace blades had reached 3,477 yellow blades and 528 frames of the perforated weathering steel blades.
"We have been working on this since March 2023. The total of all the blades will reach 4,687 blades. We hope that in October 2023 the yellow blades will be finished. As for the perforated framebar, we hope that it will be completed in Bandung in February 2024," said Nyoman Nuarta.
Nyoman Nuarta said that in order to achieve the target of completing the work on 4,687 yellow blades in October 2023, 242 artists had been deployed who worked day and night. According to him, it is not easy to treat metals like yellow because they are harder than copper.
The entire process of designing the Presidential Palace, said Nyoman Nuarta, was carried out with 70 experts from various disciplines to ensure that all buildings were precise and had long-term strength. As a trigger, Nyoman laid the basic idea of the palace seta developing an ideological foundation that accompanies it which was then perfected by architects, structural experts, geologists and other experts.
These yellow metal grains will become the outer skin of the Presidential Palace building. The blades will serve as a building facade and impress the shape of the garuda bird.
"These symptoms function as facades and cavities for wind entry and inhibit sunlight directly into the building. With that calculation, we hope that energy conservation in this building will be optimal," said Ir. Lilik Haryo Panadi, lead architecture planning team.
It should be noted that the yellow metal will naturally experience the patina process so that the final results of the palace will be green.
"Later, naturally when you are in an open space, because of the weather and exposure to the sun, the color of the surface will gradually become green," said Nyoman Nuarta.
Right under the skin of the building, said Nyoman Nuarta, there will be a fairly wide gap. In those gaps, I design a garden with towering trees at the height of the building.
"So there will be a garden in the building. This is also to provide a cool view in the midst of Kalimantan's weather which is generally hot," he said.
The artist who was born in Tabanan, Bali, said that all the presidential palace blades sent to East Kalimantan will be accommodated at his work bengel located in Sepaku, North Penajam Paser. He hopes that by August 31, 2023, the workshop will be ready for use, so that the process of setting the blades into modules can be carried out immediately.
He also hopes that the entire process of working on the blades and delivery will run according to plan.
"I ask for prayers from all parties, hopefully the work on the Presidential Palace at IKN will run smoothly according to plan. This will be a historic event for our nation," he said.
According to Nyoman Nuarta, his involvement in the design and construction process of the Presidential Palace at IKN, according to Nyoman Nuarta, is solely motivated by his desire to do and give his best as a child of the nation. The Presidential Palace at IKN is expected to become a new magnet for justice and economic equity in eastern Indonesia.
