JAKARTA - A number of residents are still visiting the location of the fire in a densely populated residential area on Jalan Gang Kober, Petojo Selatan Village, Gambir District on Friday, August 25, evening. They only looked at the condition of their house which had been destroyed without commenting on the remaining valuables.

"Just look at the condition. It turned out that the fire was so fast that it eliminated my place of residence," said Rahma, one of the contractors who did not have time to save a number of his electronic items.

Rahma said that when the fire occurred, she was still in her rented room. He only heard the noise of local residents.

"There were so many fires, fires. I immediately panicked to save myself. I didn't have time to save anything, the important thing was that I survived. Because the alley was narrow," he recalled.

Residents' settlement on Jalan Gang Kober, South Petojo Village, Gambir District, Central Jakarta caught fire on Wednesday, August 23. The fire began to burn at around 20.20 WIB.

The results of data collection from officials from the Central Jakarta Fire Management Sub-dept. (Sudin Gulkarmat), the cause of the fire in residential areas of Jalan Gang Kober was finally revealed.

"The alleged cause of the gas stove," said Head of Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Asril Rizal to VOI, Thursday, August 24.

Officers suspect that the cause of the fire was suspected to be an explosion from a gas stove from one of the residents' houses.

"Initially one of the residents was cooking fish, then they were left playing online games. Then the fire was seen by a cafe visitor and had grown," he said.

As a result of the fire, two residents were reported to have died as a result of the intense fire that hit the densely populated area.

"The victim died, two men and women," he said.

According to data from the Central Jakarta Fire Management Sub-dept. (Sudin Gulkarmat), the total number of residents affected by the fire reached 960 people from 240 families (KK) in 4 RTs. Previously, Gambir Sub-district Head Andri Ferdian said that 574 residents were affected by the fire from 196 families.
