SALATIGA - The Salatiga Police have uncovered a case of theft of Base Trans Way Station (BTS) equipment, which occurred in the Blotongan Sidorejo Salatiga area, and at JLS Salatiga, Central Java. From the results of the disclosure of this case, the police arrested two suspects who acted as perpetrators and sellers of stolen goods.

The perpetrator with the initials SF, aged 36, became the main suspect in this theft. The suspect is a former employee of the BTS Tower who was arrested in the Ngawi area, East Java after a long investigation. "said the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Salatiga Police, AKP Arifin Suryani in a written statement, Wednesday, August 16.

Meanwhile, the second perpetrator with the initials SM, a resident of Popongan hamlet, Bringin District, Semarang Regency, took action with the suspect SF.

A number of items of evidence were secured, namely a black Suzuki motorbike used in the crime, a pickup truck, equipment used when acting such as screwdrivers, pliers, wire breaks, acu, BTS modules and equipment.

"The incident began on March 20, 2023 when the reporter received an alarm notification from the BTS XL tower, a cut thorn and a device in the practice of a missing recurrency", he explained.

The process of investigating and developing cases is still ongoing. This is because the perpetrators have carried out the same action 4 times in the city of Salatiga and 2 times in the district of Semarang.

"Not only will the nominal loss be a problem, but it will also be a problem if the network around Salatiga is cut off, of course it will hinder the activities of Salatiga residents." he concluded.

The two perpetrators were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a threat of 7 years in prison.
