Spray Arsul Sani, PPP Affirms Its Commitment To Continue Supporting Ganjar In The 2024 Presidential Election

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the United Development Party (PPP) Usman M. Tokan ensured that his party was committed to supporting Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). Communication with the PDI-P (PDIP) will continue to be carried out by Plt Chairman of PPP Mardiono.

This was conveyed in response to the statement by the Deputy Chairperson of PPP Arsul Sani who said that internal parties are now worried that Sandiaga Uno will not be paired with Ganjar. This condition is considered to be able to shift the direction of the support that has been given.

"PPP remains consistent and committed to carrying out the mandate of the party constitution, namely Rapimnas who decided Mas Ganjar Pranowo as a presidential candidate," said Usman in a written statement quoted on Wednesday, August 9.

Usman regretted Arsul's statement and said what was conveyed was a personal view. "He is a legal expert, how come he can speak beyond his authority to exceed the AD / ART, he should be tawadhu," he said.

"We deeply regret the attitude and statement of a Mas Arsul who has been trusted as Deputy Chairperson of the PPP DPP and Deputy Chairperson of the MPR RI," continued Usman.

In the future, Usman reminded the party cadres bearing the Ka'bah symbol not to speak carelessly. This warning was conveyed because PPP had already held a meeting with its cadres.

From that meeting, all cadres ensured to obey the results of the Rapimnas some time ago. Usman also mentioned that the struggle for Sandiaga to be seen as Ganjar's vice presidential candidate (cawapres) continues.

"This struggle is still being carried out until a decision is made by the PDI-P. We are grateful that PPP was invited to speak in determining the vice presidential candidate, Mas Ganjar," he said.

As previously reported, Arsul Sani expressed concern that Sandiaga Uno would not become a vice presidential candidate to accompany Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) began to appear internally. Cadres are said to question the party's attitude if this happens.

"It's actually developing now internally, it's a discourse. If it turns out that Mr. Sandi Uno was not chosen as a vice presidential candidate, then what is the attitude of PPP? You know that," Arsul told reporters in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 8.

Arsul then said that internal cadres did not only support Ganjar who was promoted by PDIP. He said their voices were also divided to support former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and Gerindra Party Chair Prabowo Subianto.

Moreover, PPP is not a party that must be upright with one particular command. Arsul said this party was open to various proposals, including the matter of presidential candidates.
