PPP Starts to Worry that Sandiaga Uno Won't Be Elected as Ganjar's Vice Presidential Candidate

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the United Development Party (PPP) Arsul Sani revealed that concerns about Sandiaga Uno not becoming a vice presidential candidate to accompany Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) have started to emerge internally. The cadres are called to question the party's attitude if this happens.

"In fact, this is currently being developed in the internal discourse. If it turns out that Pak Sandi Uno is not selected as a vice presidential candidate, then what will be the attitude of PPP? That's how you know," Arsul told reporters in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 8.

Arsul then revealed that internal cadres actually did not only support Ganjar, who was promoted by PDIP. He said, their votes were also split in favor of former DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and General Chair of the Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto.

Moreover, PPP is not a party that must be perpendicular to a certain command. Arsul said that this party is open to various suggestions, including the matter of presidential candidates.

"I have to admit that it is growing. Why is it growing? Because, right, friends in the media also know that in PPP, to be honest, there are many who support Mas Ganjar, there are also quite a few who support Mas Anies, there are also quite a few who support Pak Prabowo," he said.

"But that earlier, this is different, this party cannot be commanded. For example 'uh, you have to be straight, you can't look right and look left'. You can't in PPP. That's a weakness, yes, it's okay to be a weakness," he said.

Even so, Arsul believes this concern will not have an impact on PPP's relationship with PDIP Party. Moreover, PPP and the party with the bull symbol have the same historical aspect.

However, he said that these two parties actually did not have a political contract to support the Governor of Central Java even though their communication was going well.

"Our relationship with PDIP is very good, and so far the communication has also been good, and we are probably also respectable. The proof is that when Mr. Ganjar was with the volunteers, we were also invited," he concluded.
