KEPRI - A total of 5,500 lobster fry to be smuggled into Singapore were thwarted in the waters of Labun Island, Batam City, Riau Islands (Kepri). From the results of the disclosure, 1,500 lobster fry were released into the wild. The Director of Special Crimes (Dirkrimsus) of the Riau Police Kombes Pol Nasriadi said the number of lobster fry released was reduced from the results of prosecution due to death while traveling. "The number of clear lobster seeds that can be saved and released is approximately 1,500 out of a total of 5,500. While the rest are confirmed to have died and preserved for evidence," he said in Batam, Riau Islands, Friday, July 28, was confiscated by Antara. Nasriadi said the release of lobster fry was in accordance with the direction of the Padang Coastal and Marine Resources Management Center (BPSPL). According to BPSPL, the waters of Labun Island have entered the reserve of Batam waters. "The release locations are recommendations from BPSBL Padang, namely the waters are slightly turbulent and close to the conservation area. The release is also supervised by a team from BPSPL Padang," he said.

He explained that the lobster fry that were released were the result of the disclosure of his team on Wednesday, July 26. Where his team managed to thwart efforts to send 5,500 lobster fry that would smuggle into Singapore through the city of Batam from Lampung Province. "On July 26, 2023, personnel from the Special Criminal Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of the Riau Islands Police succeeded in thwarting efforts to send 5,500 lobster fry brought from Lampung to Jambi, then to Batam. From Batam, they will be smuggled into Singapore," he said.

He explained that in the disclosure, his party managed to arrest four suspects with the initials SB, AH, F and Z. They were arrested at the People's Port in Tanjung Riau, Batam City.

"The lobster fry came from Bandar Lampung to Jambi. From Jambi they were taken by fast boat to Batam. It is known that the clear lobster was sold at the price range of one pearl lobster fry of Rp. 150 thousand and Rp. 100,000 in sand type," he said.
