Ministry Of Religion Ready To Facilitate Borobudur To Become World Vesak Celebration Center

JAKARTA - Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas hopes that the Borobudur Temple site will become the largest Buddhist temple in the world. It is not just a tourist destination but a place of worship for Buddhists in the world.

This view was conveyed by Minister of Religion Gus Yaqut during a discussion with the Director General of Buddhist Community Guidance (Bimas) of the Ministry of Religion Caliadi.

"We hope that all religious mass organizations and Buddhist assemblies will unite in realizing Borobudur as the center of the world's Buddhist places of worship. For example, in the celebration of Vesak and other religious celebrations," said the Minister of Religion as quoted from a written statement from the Ministry of Religion.

"This can be realized if Buddhists in Indonesia unite and we are ready to facilitate," continued the Minister of Religion.

The meeting also discussed programs to strengthen Buddhist brotherhood. The Minister of Religion asked the Directorate General of Buddhist Guidance to play an active role in protecting and being a conditioning for religious mass organizations and various Buddhist assemblies in Indonesia.

The Minister of Religion also gave appreciation to a number of Buddhist religious organizations that care about the condition of the nation amid the COVID-19 pandemic through various social service activities.

To the Minister of Religion, the Director General of Bimas Buddha Caliadi is committed to bringing together all religious organizations and Buddhist assemblies in one forum to unite the voices of Indonesian Buddhists.

"Thank you for the direction and support of the Minister for Buddhists. And we at the Directorate General of Bimas Buddha will always provide the best service to Buddhists in Indonesia," said Caliadi.
