JAKARTA - As many as 8 housing units, workshops and stalls on Jalan Trikora RT 02 / RW 01, Landasan Ulin Tengah Sub-District, Liang Anggang District, Banjarbaru City, South Kalimantan (Kalsel) were badly damaged due to being hit by a tornado.

The Chief Executive of the Banjarbaru City Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Zaini Syahranie, said the incident took place this morning. Luckily, the residents of the house were able to save him.

"There were 3 people with minor injuries, but they had been treated and were not seriously injured," he said as quoted by Antara, Friday, January 29.

Based on data from BPBD Banjarbaru, houses, workshops and stalls built on land with lease status. "The damage varies, there are 10 percent to 75 percent, with the most damage to the roof that was released, apart from damage to the walls of the house made of wood," said Zaini.

In the morning after the incident at around 06.00 WITA, he continued, his party immediately went to the location and handed over assistance in the form of packages of staple goods for tornado victims.

"We came directly to the location and handed over packages of staple goods, consisting of rice, sugar, cooking oil, and canned fish in large quantities that could last for one week," he said.

Pemkot Banjarbaru, he said, could not provide assistance to repair physical damage to buildings, because houses, including workshops and shops that are occupied, are land owned by someone else's lease.
