JAKARTA - Former Secretary of the Supreme Court (MA) Nurhadi beat one of the KPK prison officials. This beating came after a misunderstanding.

Acting KPK Spokesperson for KPK Enforcement Affairs Ali Fikri said the beating took place on Thursday, January 28 at around 16.30 WIB at the Ground A Detention Center, which is in the KPK Building Lot C1.

"It is true that it is suspected that acts of physical violence were committed by KPK detainees on behalf of the NHD (Nurhadi) against one of the KPK detention officers," Ali said in a written statement, Friday, January 29.

He explained that the beating incident was preceded by a misunderstanding related to the delivery of an explanation for the socialization by KPK officials regarding the plan to renovate one of the bathrooms for detainees.

"The acts of physical violence committed by NHD were also witnessed by other KPK detention officers," he said.

After the beating took place, the KPK detention center conducted an examination of Nurhadi according to the applicable mechanism.

"We will submit further developments in this matter," he said.

Previously reported, Nurhadi together with his son-in-law Rezky Herbiyono and PT Multicon Indrajaya Terminal (MIT) Director Hiendra Soenjoto have been included in the status of the wanted list (DPO) since February 11, 2020.
