Gathering With The PBNU, The Chief Of Police Hopes That The Police Will Come From Madrasahs And Pesantren

JAKARTA - National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, stayed in touch with the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board. The police chief spoke of his hopes of recruiting police personnel from madrassas and pesantren.

"We really hope that our members are filled with experts (Religion) who then he understands, he understands, what I often say we would be very happy if our members were elected from madrassas, from pesantren," said the General. Listyo Sigit at PBNU, Jakarta, Thursday, January 28.

In fact, Listyo longed for the police personnel to be children or descendants of religious leaders. The hope is that they are tasked with not only upholding justice but also conveying religious teachings properly.

That way, the public is expected to be reluctant to these Police personnel.

"He will be able to become a policeman who is respected by the community. Because he controls religion because people obey without using a gun," he said.

National Police Chief Listyo Sigit also said that the desire of the police who came from madrassas and pesantren was in line with one of the programs he initiated. Namely forming human resources (HR) who are polite and firm.

"In the future, this is our program in which we want the police to be firm but humane without using force when we say this is permissible and this is not allowed. Whichever value does our members have," he said.
