Eri Cahyadi Calls Surabaya-Sidoarjo Train Doubles Congestion

Surabaya Mayor, East Java, Eri Cahyadi stated that the plan to build a railway double line (KA) starting from Surabaya Pasar Turi Station to Sidoarjo Station will unravel congestion.

"The plan to build a double line is one of the means to meet the needs of public transportation between cities," he said in a statement quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, July 15.

According to Eri, his party has discussed the plan to build the railway transportation route (KA) with the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi during his visit at the Purabaya Sidoarjo Terminal, East Java, Friday (14/7).

Currently, the Ministry of Transportation has reviewed four stages of the railway double route, namely the Surabaya-Sidoarjo, Lamongan-Sidoarjo, Lamongan-Mojokerto, Lamongan-Gresik-Sidoarjo routes.

"God willing, what will be done is Sidoarjo-Surabaya," said Cak Eri, his nickname.

Dalam rencana pembangunan jalur ganda tersebut, lanjut dia, ada titik yang menjadi perhatian Kemenhub yakni kawasan Bundaranlau, Kabupaten Sidoarjo, lantaran sering terjadi kepadatan arus lalu lintas.

"We need a double track, so that later God willing, there will be calculations, earlier what was conveyed (Menhub) about the work. Hopefully it can be carried out soon, because now a feasibility study (feasibility study) has been carried out," he said.

Cak Eri also revealed that the plan to build a double line for the Surabaya-Sidoarjo train will soon be implemented in 2024.

"Like it or not, this is every morning when entering Surabaya it is jammed. In the afternoon from outside Sidoarjo, both from Jalan Maj. Gen. Sungkono wants to go to Gresik and to Sidoarjo is also jammed, so I convey it to the Minister, so the focus is Sidoarjo-Gresik first, the second stage is only Lamongan-Surabaya-Sidoarjo," he said.
