2 Villages In Kolaka Flooded Due To Heavy Rain

KOLAKA - Two villages in Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra), were hit by floods due to overflowing of a number of rivers after heavy rains hit the area.

Kolaka Police Public Relations Aipda Riswandi said that according to reports from the Watu Police, proud at around 07.00 WITA, floods hit two locations, namely the Polinggona Village, Polinggona District and Peoho Village, Watungga District, due to the high intensity of rain since early morning.

"The impact of the flood was material losses of tens of millions of rupiah as well as several damaged houses and submerged rice plants," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 4.

In Polinggona Village, the loss is estimated at around Rp. 70 million, the flooded rice fields are about 20 hectares and 15 houses are damaged.

Likewise, in Peoho Village, Watubang District, he said, material losses were around Rp. 10 million, flooded rice fields were around 10 hectares and 20 houses were damaged.

Riswandi also explained that the flood was caused by the overflow of several rivers in the Watu District being proud because of the high intensity of rain since Tuesday morning.

"Currently, the overflow of river water has begun to recede," said Riswandi.
