JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDIP faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Gembong Warsono, doubts the effectiveness of the artificial intelligence (AI) technology decomposition system that has been installed by the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency at 20 traffic light intersection points in the capital city.
Based on his observations, the traffic density in Jakarta has not decomposed every day. Congestion continues, especially in the morning and evening.
"From the 20 AI points installed, I have not felt any changes. I, the trip from Kebayoran Lama to the office (DKI DPRD building) has not changed anything," said Gembong when contacted, Monday, July 3.
On that basis, Gembong asked the DKI Transportation Agency to evaluate the trial period for the implementation of congestion-resolved projects with artificial intelligence technology.
"If it's a trial, I think the trial will be evaluated immediately so that the APBD that we issue really has a maximum impact on Jakarta residents in the context of overcoming congestion," he said.
Previously, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said that his party had installed a decomposition system at 20 traffic light intersections in the capital city. The Green Light project, which collaborates with Google in the formation of artificial intelligence technology, has been implemented since last April.
"There are 20 intersections that have implemented AI principles with system transport intelligence on traffic light. This year there will be an additional 40 intersections," Syafrin told reporters, Sunday, July 2.
Syafrin explained that the AI system installed on traffic lights will carry out adaptive force functions by looking at the tighter legs of the intersection. Then, the green light on traffic in the solid current will be made with longer duration.

"If all this time the arrangement is manual or from our control room. Now on the spot. For example, the north-south side, which is crowded in the south in the morning, the system will automatically calculate giving the longest time at the foot of the south side because the point is heading that way," explained Syafrin.
"Similarly, in the afternoon, for example, it turns out that from the north which is crowded to the south, the northern side of the intersection will be given longer time. So, queues at the intersection can be avoided," he added.
