Indonesia Crisis Of ICT Teaching, No More Than 1,000 Teachers

JAKARTA - Indonesia is in crisis for the teaching of Technology, Information and Communication (ICT). In fact, 30 percent of ICT teachers in the country do not have a background in informatics education.

Awaluddin added that, after improvements, the latest data showed that only 1,000 ICT teachers were deemed fit to teach and met the qualifications as well as informatics certification. Meanwhile, the number of prostitutes in Indonesia reaches 50 million from elementary to high school levels.

According to him, in the structure of the education curriculum in this country, informatics lessons have actually been designed since Early Childhood Education (PAUD).

However, due to limited teaching staff, ICT has only been taught at the junior and senior high school levels, which is only limited to being an optional subject.

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics (Kominfo) is taking part in this issue. They suggest that Indonesia has at least nine million ICT workers, including digital talents to advance technology in this country, by 2030. This issue must be the attention of the Ministry of Education and Culture. Because this will make Indonesia lag behind other developed countries.

In fact, internet users in Indonesia reached 171 million in 2019. That number will continue to increase in the following years.
