Facing El Nino, Ganjar Orders OPD To Maintain Community Needs And Optimize Village Funds

Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo ordered Regional Apparatus Organizations to seriously prepare for impact mitigation from El Nino. He did not want the community's needs to be disrupted due to El Nino.

Each OPD really prepares itself so that we can meet the needs of the existing community. So we are preparing an action plan, mitigating the testiko of the impact of El Nino," said Ganjar, Wednesday, June 21 in his statement.

Ganjar also invited the public to be involved in mitigating drought in Central Java. One of them is by maintaining the production of household food crops.

"We ask for one to maintain food farming production and we encourage households to plant their own. Then we prepare fisheries, livestock, plantations," he said.

Furthermore, the PDIP presidential candidate said this mitigation step was based on the experience of El Nino's dryness that hit Central Java in 2019 for 9 months. The impacts in drought-prone areas such as Brebes, Tegal, Demak, Jepara, Pati, Rembang, Blora, and Wonogiri have also been prepared.

"The map of the estimated dry peak is between July and August. But we have to see if the El Nino can be longer then it will be quite dangerous. We have mapped all the drought hazard maps," said Ganjar.

Based on BMKG's monitoring, the El Nino phenomenon has occurred in the Central Java region. This phenomenon is marked by dry weather and rainfall.

Ganjar detailed a number of mitigation schemes to deal with potential drought due to the El Nino phenomenon. One of them is to issue government food reserves (CPP) to optimize village funds.

"Regency/city BULOG must all be ready, we have prepared a food loss and food waste campaign, optimizing village funds to move," said Ganjar.

In addition, Ganjar said local food stocks such as rice, corn, and cassava have also been prepared in emergency conditions. The health sector is also strengthened by the government to deal with potential diseases that will infect.
