KPK Waits For The Presence Of Syahrul Yasin Limpo Today

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is waiting for the presence of the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo today.

SYL, the minister's nickname, will be questioned regarding the investigation into alleged corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture after being canceled on the grounds of an official trip to India on Friday, June 16.

"We hope and believe that the person concerned will attend the next invitation (Monday, June 19)," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, last Friday, June 16.

Meanwhile, Syahrul in his written statement asked the KPK to examine him on Tuesday, June 27. He admitted that he still had to travel to China and South Korea to discuss strengthening cooperation in agricultural modernization and agricultural export market facilities.

Even so, the KPK still asked Syahrul to fulfill the summons according to the time set. "Loss to him if he is not present at the opportunity given by the investigative team," said Ali.

From Syahrul's statement and other examined parties, the anti-corruption commission will analyze whether there is a criminal act of corruption. However, investigators can't do much if Syahrul doesn't come on a predetermined schedule.

This is because pick-up cannot be done during the investigation process, which is different from the investigation process. "If the witness or suspect has attempted to force it," Ali told reporters quoted on Sunday, June 18.

"(Meanwhile, ed) in the investigation process there is no attempt to force summons such as in the investigation, prosecution or trial," he continued.

Previously, the KPK confirmed the investigation into alleged corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture. This was in response to the circulation of the Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo along with two of his subordinates, KSD and HTA, who were also involved in allegations of corruption.

This action was carried out since early January. Dozens of people have been questioned, such as officials and state civil servants (ASN) at the ministry.
