Singaporean And Russian Foreigners Deported By Singaraja Immigration Office For Abuse Of Investor Stay Permit

SINGARAJA - Singaraja Immigration Office, Bali, has deported a foreign national (WNA) from Singapore and two people from Russia after it was discovered that they had abused a limited stay permit as an investor.

This action was taken after the public reported via Instagram social media. The head of the Singaraja Immigration Office, Hendra Setiawan, revealed this in Denpasar, Bali, on Saturday, June 10.

"We arrested them based on public reports via Instagram social media," said Head of the Singararajakhendra Setiawan Immigration Office in Denpasar, Bali, Saturday.

A foreigner from Singapore with the initials GOTL and two foreigners from Russia with the initials MK and AM were arrested in Karangasem Regency on Friday, May 26, 2023. The three were then deported to their home country via I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Badung Regency, Bali on Saturday.

The arrests were made as a result of a joint operation of immigration surveillance based on reports submitted via social media on May 4, 2023. Hendra explained that GOTL, who is 59 years old, is the organizer of the "Dance for Peace" activity held at a hotel in Sidemen District, Karangasem Regency with a schedule on May 26 to 28, 2023. Apart from being the organizer, GOTL also became a dipjoki (DJ) in the entertainment event.

"GOWL has a limited residence permit for investors valid until May 4, 2025," said Hendra.

Meanwhile, the Constitutional Court, a 37-year-old man, and AM, a 34-year-old woman, are Russian citizens. Both are holders of limited stay permits for investors valid until November 15, 2023, and November 11, 2023.

At that time, they attended the "Dance for Peace" activity. However, when the operation was carried out, the two showed uncooperative attitudes, caused noise, and disrupted order at the event.

After further investigations, even though they have a residence permit as investors, it turns out that they have never carried out investment activities, and the investment documents they have are only used to obtain a residence permit.

Apart from being deported, the three of them also received deterrence from entering Indonesia. Under Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration, deterrence can be enforced for 6 months and can be extended every time for 6 months.

The Singaraja Immigration Office, which is located in Buleleng Regency, North Bali, has working areas in three districts, namely Buleleng Regency, Karangasem Regency, and Jembrana Regency.
