Update On COVID-19 Cases As Of January 23: New Cases Of 12,191, DKI Jakarta Is The Highest

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of Saturday, January 23. A total of 83,190 specimens were examined with results of 12,191 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 977,474 people," the Ministry of Health was quoted as saying, Saturday, January 23.

Cases recovered today increased by 9,912 so that a total of 791,059 people recovered. Then, the positive confirmed cases who died increased by 211 people and a total of 27,664 people.

The province with the most new cases was in DKI Jakarta with 3,285 new cases and a total of 246,303 cases. DKI is the province with the most cases in Indonesia.

Followed by Central Java, which has 1,875 new cases with a total of 113,498 cases. West Java has 1,809 new cases and a total of 123,048 cases. Then, East Java has 919 new cases and a total of 105,261 cases.

The province with the most cases recovered today belongs to DKI Jakarta with an increase of 3,492 recovered cases.

Followed by West Java with an increase of 2,119 recovered cases, East Java with an increase of 851 recovered cases, and North Sulawesi with an increase of 615 recovered cases.

No province reported having no new cases as of today. The province with the fewest new cases was Aceh with 11 cases.

In addition, the number of specimens examined reached 8,706,505. In detail, a total of 8,569,663 specimens were examined using real time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and 136,842 using a molecular rapid test (TCM).

"The cumulative positive results per number of people examined or a positivity rate of 16.8 percent," he wrote.

Finally, the number of people suspected of having contracted COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, was recorded at 83,190 people. Currently, 510 districts / cities from 34 provinces have COVID-19 cases.
