BANDA ACEH - A total of 17 units of Azhar's (60) shop with semi-permanent construction on Jalan Banda Aceh-Malahayati, Baitussalam Aceh Besar caught fire, of which 16 units of the shop were heavily damaged, and 1 unit was moderately damaged, Saturday.

Head of BPBD Aceh Besar Ridwan Jamil, in Aceh Besar, said the fire occurred at 11.58 WIB. Based on witness testimony, the fire was allegedly caused by sparks from a kitchen gas hose from one of the shops.

"The shop, which is parallel and adjacent, has a semi-permanent construction and according to witness testimony at the scene of the incident, it started because of sparks from the gas hose," said Ridwan Jamil, quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, May 27.

Ridwan stated that the hot weather conditions accompanied by strong winds then made the fire spread so quickly and spread to other buildings.

In an effort to extinguish the fire, the Aceh Besar BPBD deployed as many as seven fire fleet units to the scene, and also assisted by four fire brigade units from Banda Aceh City.

The process of extinguishing the fire until the cooling was just completed by officers until 13.25 WIB.

"In the effort to extinguish the fire, officers were also assisted by TNI personnel, POLRI, neat volunteers, erpa, and the community," explained Ridwan Jamil.
