ManOKWARI - Directorate of Criminal Investigation of the West Papua Regional Police detained three suspects in the alleged corruption case of grant funds from the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) West Papua with the initials DI, AW, and R, Monday 22 night. However, he did not specify the role of each suspect in the case of misuse of KONI grant funds sourced from the West Papua Provincial Budget for three years as much as Rp. 227.49 billion, namely 2019 Rp. 60 billion, 2020 Rp99.9 billion, and 2021 Rp67.5 billion. Based on the results of the audit of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) Number PE.03.02/SR-130/PW27/5/2023 dated May 11, 2023 it was found that state losses reached Rp32.079 billion. "Regarding the role and evidence of the looted results from the three suspects will be released," he said. The legal power of suspect AW, Paul Simonda confirmed the detention of his client along with two other suspects. "Benar, my client (AW) along with two other suspects were immediately detained," said Paul Simonda. He explained that suspect AW was cooperative in fulfilling the investigator's summons and had received if the arrest was carried out. "So my client (AW) cooperates with the ongoing legal process," said Simonda. Article 2 and Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law RI Number 31 of 1999 as amended by Law Number 20 of 20 of 2021, as well as the formulation of Article 5 Law Number 8 of 2010 concerning the Prevention and Eradication of the Crime of Money Laundering (TPPU).
