JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo held a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday, May 21.
In the meeting which took place on the sidelines of the G7 Summit, Jokowi expressed his support for efforts to make peace in the Ukraine-Russia war.
"President Zelenskyy, I will continue to follow the development of the situation in Ukraine. I am sorry for the victims who continue to fall," said Jokowi in a press release, Sunday, May 21.
President Jokowi emphasized that Indonesia continues to support peace efforts in Ukraine and expressed its readiness to become a bridge to peace.
"Indonesia is ready to become a bridge of peace between Ukraine and Russia," he said in Antara.
Meanwhile, President Zelenskyy expressed his appreciation for Indonesia's role in seeking peace in Ukraine.
President Zelenskyy still remembers President Jokowi as one of the country's leaders to visit Kyiv in the midst of the difficult situation facing Ukraine.
"I remember Your Majesty's arrival, including the first to go to Ukraine. Thank you and we will always remember," said Zelenskyy.
