Bali Police Did Not Find Bunker Fetus In The Case Of Ex-convict Doctors In Abortion Practices

DENPASAR - Bali Regional Police stated that they did not find a bunker or fetal disposal site when conducting a crime scene (TKP) in the case of a dentist ex-convict who opened an illegal abortion practice.

Head of Sub-Directorate V of Cyber Crime Ditreskrimsus Polda Bali AKBP Nanang Prihasmoko said that after conducting a crime scene at the place of doctor I Ketut Arik Wiantara/IKAW (53) who was arrested, the police only found evidence in the form of hard drugs used by the suspect in the abortion.

Nanang said that the crime scene processing was carried out to ascertain the possibility of other evidence after collecting data and information from suspects IKAW such as equipment, medicines or fetuses, and so on at the place where IKAW opened the practice of abortion in Gang Bajangan, Padang Luwih Highway, Dalung Village, North Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali.

"From all of these results, we only found hard drugs that the suspect had used to carry out the practice process for healing, dragging, and others. For the place where the fetal bunker was, we have not found it," said Nanang as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, May 19.

The examination of the fetal disposal site, said Nanang, was carried out to prove the testimony of the suspect, doctor IKAW, that from the beginning of the examination he admitted to having an abortion practice for people whose gestational age was one month and another.

Because it is still in the form of an embryo tissue or a lump of meat, said Nanang, it is possible that after being aborted, the perpetrators immediately threw it into a ditch and disappeared mixed with other substances.

However, said Nanang, the Bali Police will re-trace the crime scene if in the process of examining witnesses, investigators find things that lead to allegations of fetal disposal or the like around the house of the suspect IKAW.

"Meanwhile, we have maximized the TKP processing activities. If later in the examination process the witnesses find things related to it, we will conduct another TKP. Later we will open it first for the 'police line'," said Nanang.

Investigators from the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Bali Police continue to examine witnesses consisting of a maid, the last patient's lover who was found at the crime scene, and two residents near the house of the suspect, doctor IKAW.

Until now, said Nanang, there were no new suspects in the case. Meanwhile, an assistant in charge of cleaning the place for illegal abortion, doctor IKAW, is still being examined as a witness.

"We did an examination. He didn't help with the abortion process, but he only knew there were patients, so to strengthen him to participate or become a suspect, we are still doing the deepening process again to find evidence," said Nanang.

Currently, the suspect IKAW is being held at the Bali Police Detention Center with the threat of multiple sentences for violating Article 77 Juncto Article 73 paragraph (1), Article 78 Juncto 73 paragraph (2) concerning Medical Practices and Article 194 Juncto Article 75 paragraph (2) Law Number 36 of 2009 concerning Health with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 10 billion.
