JAKARTA - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) informed that the overhead catenary system (OCS) or electricity flow on the Jakarta Bandung Fast Train (KCJB) began to be electrified on Thursday, May 18.

"The entire OCS KCJB network has been electrified with a voltage of 27.5 kV (kilovolt). This indicates that people must be careful if they are active around the KCJB line because they can be electrocuted by high voltage," said General Manager Corporate Secretary of KCIC Rahadian Rattry in a statement received in Jakarta, Friday.

KCIC explained that four traction substations have been electrified with a voltage of 27.5 kV, which means that the electricity distribution through electricity flow over KCJB has started. The total length of the OCS contact cable is 384.6 kilometers (km), which is installed on the 142.3 km KCJB line.

Rahadian said that before being distributed to the OCS, all components, networks, and electricity systems had been checked first. Once declared ready, he said, electricity can be channeled to the OCS.

KCIC said the distribution of electricity for OCS indicated that the high voltage of the local electricity network along the KCJB route was converted through a traction substation into an industrial frequency AC current of one phase of 27.5 kV, which was then channeled to the OCS network above the train line to provide energy to KCJB.

The four transaction substations are placed in the Halim, Karawang, Walini, and Tegalluar areas.

Rahadian said the entire system built was in accordance with international standards so it had good quality, long life and reliable safety.

Various steps, procedures, and handling of emergency conditions have been prepared to ensure the safety of all KCJB electricity systems.

"With electricity being distributed to OCS, this also indicates that the initial stages of the commissioning test are running smoothly. Through OCS which has been electrified, the comprehensive inspection train (CIT) series has also begun to be prepared because in the near future it will pass on the KCJB route to carry out a thorough check," said Rahadian. this was confiscated from Antara.

Therefore, KCIC urges the public not to approach the KCJB route because it is very dangerous for them or the continuity of the KCJB commissioning test.

"People are prohibited from doing activities on the KCJB route, throwing foreign objects, playing kites or balloons around the KCJB route, entering the KCJB rail, tunnel, and bridge lines and entering other prohibited areas," said Rahadian.

KCIC has also collaborated with the TNI-Polri in order to prevent potentially dangerous disturbances during the commissioning test until the KCJB operation later.

KCIC reminds all parties not to commit theft or damage to power lines, contact cables, and other structural elements in KCJB equipment and facilities because it can endanger the safety of KCJB travel.
