Cianjur Police Arrest 3 International Network Online Gambling Agents

CIANJUR - The Cianjur Resort Police (Polres), West Java, arrested three international online gambling agents with an Turnover of hundreds of millions of rupiah per day at a rented house in Sinda Kasih Village, Karangtengah District.

Cianjur Police Chief AKBP Aszhari Kurniawan said the arrests of three online gambling agents began with the suspicion of residents inside the rented house so that officers carried out surveillance and arrests.

"The suspicion of residents is proven, three people with the initials RNH, AA, and MIH were arrested with evidence of several computer units used for transactions and operating online gambling sites," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 17.

The three people arrested are agents of an international online gambling syndicate that has a turnover of one hundred million rupiah every day and has a main server in the Russian state, each of their total transactions gets a profit of 3.5 percent per day.

To be able to play on online gambling sites, he said, users must register and deposit money starting from a nominal value of IDR 25 thousand to IDR 25 million. Although online gambling site agents live in Cianjur, it can be accessed by users throughout Indonesia.

"We are still pursuing another perpetrator with the initials A who has been included in the wanted list (DPO) who is suspected of being the leader of the three perpetrators who have access to higher leadership abroad," he said.

The three perpetrators, said Aszhari, will be charged with Article 45 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions junto Article 27 of Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code.

"The three of them face up to 6 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion, we will continue to develop this case until the brains of the perpetrators are successfully arrested," he said.
