JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Education Office (Disdik) held training for teachers and school principals regarding digital literacy amid the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

In today's digital era, technology is accelerating and inevitable, including AI's latest technology. Instead of being able to replace humans in work, this training focuses on the positive use of AI and other technologies for the world of education.

"Through the field of school, we continue to socialize to all teachers including school management in Jakarta, to focus on developing AI and other digital technology," said Deputy Head of DKI Jakarta Education Office, Purwosusilo, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, May 15.

As an effort to follow the development of the world and continue to contribute in advancing Indonesian education, the training was carried out by practitioners, including Professor of Indonesia and Chancellor of the State University of Jakarta for the period 2004-2014, Prof. Dr. Bedjo Sujanto, M.Pd, and Chancellor of the Open University for the 2009-2017 Period as well as former President of the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) Prof. Ir. Tian Belawati, Med., Ph.D.

The practitioners share insights about AI, challenges in implementing digital literacy, utilizing information technology, and a modern education ecosystem, with the hope of providing the latest guidance for school managers.

"We want to improve the teacher's ability first, to encourage students to have digital capabilities. The most intelligent person is a person who is able to follow developments, now digitalization is needed," said Purwosusilo.

On the same occasion, the Head of DKI Jakarta Junior High School and High School, Putoyo, said artificial intelligence was able to have a positive impact on the world of education in the future.

This, explained Putoyo, can be achieved if the school management is able to adapt and direct students to take advantage of AI technology in a more positive direction.

"Maybe in the future there will be many activities that no longer need to be carried out by humans, we can be assisted by AI, I think this is extraordinary, but teachers must also be able to behave and direct students how to be in this situation and be able to participate in innovation in AI," he said.

Until now, the DKI Jakarta Education Office said it was aggressively conducting various socializations and special counseling regarding artificial intelligence to schools in Jakarta, focusing on increasing the intelligence of teachers and students to be more creative.

The digital training event was supported by a private party with the title Implementation of Digital Literacy for Future Education', and was held at the DKI Jakarta Education Office, Kuningan, South Jakarta. This training was attended by around 300 participants consisting of teachers and principals at the Elementary School (SD) to High School (SMA) and Vocational High School (SMK) in Jakarta.
