First Day Of Operation, Cicabe Emergency TPA Receives 600 Tons Of Garbage From Bandung City

BANDUNG - The Bandung City Government (Pemkot) said that on the first day of operation again, the former TPA (End Disposal Site) of Cicabe had received around 600 tons of garbage from several Bandung City Waste Shelters (TPS) as an emergency measure for handling waste.

"This is an emergency step for us to reactivate the former Cicabe TPA. Currently, Alhamdulillah, about 500-600 tons of garbage have been shifted there. While waiting for the West Java Provincial Government to realize the handling of waste in Legok Nangka," said PlhWali. BandungEma City Sumarna reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 3.

According to him, waste is a problem experienced by almost all parts of Indonesia, including the city of Bandung, which on average produces 1,500 tons per day and only relies on regional handling at the Sarimukti TPA.

"Currently, Sarimukti is constrained. At first it could accommodate 100 percent, but now it's only 50-60 percent. So this is an emergency," he said.

Currently, there is one location at the Sarimukti TPA which is still under treatment, resulting in obstacles. Whereas usually the janitor can transport 1,200 tons of garbage to Sarimukti.

While the remaining 300 tons have been tried to be described with a reduced scheme, separate, utilize (Kang Pisman) and other waste processing schemes.

"The obstacles that occurred made the addition of undiscussed waste increased by around 500-600 tons, so that there were 900 tons of garbage that were not transported a day. Now we have 135 polling stations and 55 polling stations are now overloaded," said Ema.

He admitted, this occurred that the pattern of transport did not run ideally and there were problems with traffic jams, especially in the Padalarang area.

"Moreover, Sarimukti is not only used by the city of Bandung, but also local districts and cities, such as Bandung Regency, West Bandung Regency, and Cimahi," he said.

Due to this emergency, he appealed to the public to be wise in producing waste. He wants the public to be able to finish the waste in their respective homes, so that not all waste is thrown in the TPA.

"This waste is our responsibility together. Don't think that garbage must end up in the TPA. But we try to manage waste in our respective homes to reduce the amount of waste that ends up in the TPA," he said.
