YOGYAKARTA There was a shooting at the office of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) in Menteng, Central Jakarta on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at around 10.30 WIB. Secretary General of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Buya Amirsyah told reporters confirming the shooting at the MUI office. He explained that there was previously a guest who wanted to meet with the chairman of the MUI. Finding the guest, the building security team found out his motive for wanting it.

The perpetrator was then annoyed that he could not meet the chairman of the MUI and then fired rubber bullets at the door glass of the MUI building. The bullet is said to have hit one of the MUI security guards.

On the other hand, Deputy Secretary General of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) for Law and Human Rights Ikhsan Abdullah explained that the perpetrator had claimed to be God.

"Yes, it is true that in the front yard of the MUI office there are several broken glass, there are victims from our side, they have been taken to the hospital. He himself did not know who the perpetrator was. However, at that time at the MUI office, a leadership meeting (Rapim) and gathering activities were held.

Regarding the shooting incident, Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Komaruddin explained that the perpetrator had died.
